Spurs fans react on Twitter Jamie Donley’s FA Youth Cup display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jamie Donley’s display as Spurs beat AFC Wimbledon in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday.

It has been a real breakout year for a number of 16-year-olds within the Tottenham squad. Both Dane Scarlett – who has recently turned 17 – and Alfie Devine broke the record for being the club’s youngest ever first-team player.

Both started at Plough Lane this week. But it was another talented youngster who inspired Tottenham into the next round at the expense of the Dons.

Donley came on with 16 minutes of normal time remaining. However, extra-time was needed with the tie still goalless after 90 minutes.

But Tottenham were clinical in the additional half-hour. Donley broke the deadlock with a good finish from the edge of the box and added a third at the very end with a tap-in.

But it was the assist for the visitors’ second goal that arguably saw Donley’s most inspired moment. The forward found Romaine Mundle with an outrageous pass beyond the Wimbledon backline.

And his performance prompted many Tottenham fans to suggest that Donley may need to be placed alongside the likes of Scarlett and Devine as one to look out for in years to come.

Here is how some of the supporters reacted to his display…
