Spurs deemed likely to strike deal over ‘ridiculous’ target before deadline day
Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Antonio Nusa in recent weeks.
Just under a fortnight ago, reports started doing the rounds claiming Spurs were eyeing the Club Brugge talent.
Then, speculation intensified as Tottenham were said to actively be in talks over a potential deal for Nusa.
Spurs have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the January transfer window, so there was hope that they could quickly wrap up a deal for him.
That hasn’t materialised just yet, and Dean Jones told on Friday that there hasn’t been much progress on that front in recent days.
However, the transfer insider made it clear that this isn’t a bad thing, suggesting everything is on track and backing Tottenham to strike a deal before the deadline.
Tottenham deal for Antonio Nusa is ‘a slow burner’
“There has actually been some reports today that it has moved forward, but my information is that we’re pretty much where we were,” said Jones.
“That’s not to say it’s in a bad place, it’s totally fine. This was never a deal that was as urgent as a Radu Dragusin or a Timo Werner deal.

“This is more of a slow burner and a transfer that is planned to have an impact beyond the next summer, not really for now.
“But everything has gone fine, as far as I understand it. Musa is still a player that Tottenham are really keen to get on board and to sign.
“He’s definitely open to joining, and while I wouldn’t expect it to happen imminently, I still do think we’ll probably get an agreement on it before the deadline.”
Tottenham seemingly on right track to sign ‘ridiculous’ talent Antonio Nusa
Landing Antonio Nusa would be another real coup for Tottenham in wake of other top signings, such as Pape Matar Sarr, Destiny Udogie and Dejan Kulusevski.
At just 18 years of age, Nusa already has over 60 competitive Brugge outings and four Norway caps under his belt. He’s a rising star who has the tools to potentially become a superstar.
Jones himself deemed him an “absolutely ridiculous” talent, and his record so far certainly speaks for itself.
Nusa is one for the future, much like Sarr and Udogie were, and is likely to remain at Brugge on loan for the rest of the season.
With that in mind, there’s no major rush in terms of getting him in the Tottenham squad. The important thing is that he goes on the Spurs books before anyone else can get there.
