Spurs boss Nuno could unleash ‘incredible’ talent v Rennes, he’s a ‘little superstar’ – TBR View

Spurs will be desperate to make amends for their Premier League defeat last time out in tonight’s Europa Conference League match.

Tottenham travel to Rennes in arguably the toughest fixture they’ll face in Group G.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges fell to a humbling 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace which shows they’ve got a lot of work to do.

But victory for Spurs tonight will provide a timely confidence boost ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash with Chelsea.

One of the biggest positives so far this season for Spurs fans has been Bryan Gil’s arrival at N17.

The Spain Under-21 captain joined Tottenham in the summer and he really looks like an incredible talent.

Indeed, “Little Cruyff”, a huge honour considering how good the Dutch legend was.

Fans have described him as incredible:

And Graham Roberts deemed him a “little superstar” after his appearance in the 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira.

Nuno has used Gil sparingly so far this term, giving him two ECL starts plus a two-minute cameo against Watford in the league.

But the Spurs boss could – and should – unleash the 20-year-old from the off against Rennes in wake of Son Heung-min’s absence.

Questions remain over whether Harry Kane will start or will be rested against the Ligue 1 outfit.

This would mean 17-year-old Dane Scarlett potentially getting the nod at centre-forward.

Meanwhile, Nuno could opt for Lucas Moura on the right, a more experienced head to provide support.

This would be both for his younger teammates up front and tracking back to help the defence.

Gil and Scarlett starting in attack for Spurs tonight would certainly give fans an exciting glimpse of the future.

Let’s hope this is what Nuno goes for at Roazhon Park this evening.
