‘Sprayed it around’: Chelsea owned star shines, gets 8/10 for ‘terrific’ performance

Scotland defeated Moldova last night to breathe life into their World Cup qualifying campaign and Chelsea player Billy Gilmour earned praise. The midfielder is on loan with Norwich City and is quickly becoming a mainstay on the international stage.

Gilmour was allowed to leave on loan in the summer. After starring at Euro 2020, particularly in the 0-0 draw against England, some Chelsea fans wondered if the right decision had been made.

The 20-year-old has played in all three of Norwich’s games so far this season. The Canaries have endured a tough start, playing Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester. Things should get easier for Daniel Farke’s men though and they’ve recruited well.

Certainly, Gilmour is an attractive signing. The Daily Record once again named him as one of Scotland’s star performers last night, giving him an 8/10 for his performance.

“Standout performer for Scotland and showed why there’s so much hype around him. Back playing as the midfield anchor and ran the game from there. Made intensive, forward passes from deep that got us playing and sprayed it around all night. Even his set-pieces were terrific.”

Gilmour set for Chelsea stardom

It won’t be this season but Thomas Tuchel will surely call upon the young midfielder in the future. He’s growing in the game and a good season, with plenty of football, for Norwich should bode well.

He is really easy on the eye and already has 22 Chelsea appearances to his name during his young career.

Gilmour thrives on the bigger games and Chelsea will naturally monitor his progression closely in the coming months.

Playing football at this stage of his career is massive and he’ll hope to continue improving with the more matches he plays.

The future is bright for Scotland and indeed for Chelsea when it comes to Gilmour.
