Sporting Lisbon join Premier League interest in transfer of Man City striker Lukas Nmecha
According to , Sporting Lisbon have joined the race to sign Man City striker Lukas Nmecha this summer.
The Liga NOS champions are working to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s side after claiming a first title in 19 years. Nmecha is viewed as a potential reinforcement as Sporting share a good relationship with the Man City hierarchy.
Sporting signed Pedro Porro from the Citizens on loan last year to help build the rapport between the two clubs. The Leoes would also like to bring forward their option to buy the Spanish full-back 12-months early.

Nmecha is now an option to improve Amorim’s attacking ranks after standing out while on loan with Anderlecht last season. The German centre-forward scored and penned three assists in 31 Jupiler Pro League outings under Vincent Kompany.
He added a further four goals to his tally in the JPL play-offs and three in the Beker van Belgie. But Anderlecht were unable to claim either title, with Genk eliminating Paars-wit from the Belgian Cup and Club Brugge winning the league.
Nmecha’s form will stand out to suitors as he enters the final year of his Man City contract this summer. He made his senior in the EFL Cup in December 2017 but only added outings.
His father, Kalu Nmecha, confirmed to in May that the striker has interest from the Premier League and Bundesliga. He added that Man City hope to cash-in on his Anderlecht record for as much as possible.
TBR’s view: Man City should bring Nmecha back
While his father claimed Man City want to sell Nmecha this summer, Pep Guardiola should look to bring him back. The German is yet to truly get a chance to impress at the Etihad but has proven what he can offer under Kompany.
The Citizens icon has also waxed lyrical over the 21-year-old’s ability. Kompany told in December: “Of course, he still has a margin of progression. But actually, he is already a fairly complete striker. He has no striking weaknesses.”
Guardiola would round off the final edges to Nmecha’s game if brought back to Man City. The Spaniard is in need of additional attacking options after Barcelona , as well.
But if Guardiola’s not ready to bring Nmecha back to Man City, the interest he is receiving should see that he is sold for a good sum despite entering the final year of his contract.
