‘Speaking to the players today’: BBC journalist shares what Leeds stars are now telling him about Jesse Marsch

Leeds players believe in Jesse Marsch still despite growing relegation fears having dropped into the bottom three this weekend.

Leeds lost 2-1 at Arsenal on Sunday, at the same time Everton won at Leicester by the same scoreline which changed the picture down at the bottom of the table.

Marsch has a job on his hands to guide the Whites out of trouble in his first season in the Premier League, although there is hope because Burnley lost 3-1 on their own patch on Saturday.

Speaking on , journalist Adam Pope says that he is hearing that the players retain faith in the manager, who had big shoes to fill when he replaced Marcelo Bielsa.

Pope said: “Well, speaking to the players, we’ve spoken to Robin Koch today and Dan James and they are saying all the right things.

“That they believe in what he’s trying to do.

“They are not scoring goals and don’t look as good in possession as they were under Bielsa.

“However, they are more robust at the back, there is no doubt about it, they have looked better going zonal.”

It seems that Leeds’ players did buy into what Marsch brought to the club when he replaced Bielsa and there was an early bounce in terms of results.

There is also clearly spirit there, it is just a case of keeping the faith and doing everything they can to remain a Premier League club when the season ends.

Has Burnley’s new manager bounce ended? That was a really poor result on Saturday and Mike Jackson is not experienced under this kind of pressure at all.
