Southampton star Nathan Redmond raves about Takumi Minamino

Nathan Redmond has raved about Liverpool star Takumi Minamino following his debut for Southampton at the weekend.

The Japanese forward has joined the Saints on loan until the end of the season and Redmond has been telling the all about the new recruit.

Minamino found the net in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Newcastle and was largely impressive throughout.

The 26-year-old is on loan at St Mary’s until the end of the 2020/21 campaign and looks an attractive addition.

Redmond started alongside the 26-cap star at the weekend and is pleased with how he has taken to life on the south coast.

“He’s settled in fine. The last couple of days in training, he’s showed his quality.

“He’s a really, really nice guy in terms of a human being as well.

“His quality was evident on Saturday with a great finish and we are going to need more of that.

“He provides competition in that he’s come here to play football.”

Ralph Hasenhuttl could have hit the jackpot with the signing of the Liverpool man on loan.

With opportunities few and far between at Anfield, Minamino now has the perfect chance to stake his claim for a place next season.

Minamino has a bright future at Liverpool and regular Premier League football can only aid his development.

The versatile forward has a contract worth until 2024 at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp rates him highly.

For the international star, the challenge is to stay in Hasenhuttl’s team and continue chipping in with goals and assists.

If he does that, he will stand every chance of getting a chance to shine at Anfield next season.
