Southampton ready to make deadline day proposal to sign ‘world-class’ West Ham player

Deadline day is finally upon us, and Southampton and West Ham are two clubs that could be doing a lot of business with each other today.

Danny Ings is wanted by Southampton with the West Ham striker one of many players in the east London side’s squad who could leave before tonight’s deadline, with the 32-year-old seemingly not involved in Julen Lopetegui’s plans for the season.

Another player who West Ham could look to sell today is James Ward-Prowse, with the England international seemingly ready to leave the London Stadium just one year after joining the Irons from Southampton.

And the Saints could look to bring their former captain back to the English south coast.

Southampton to make proposal for West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse

According to , Southampton could make a proposal to sign Ward-Prowse this deadline day, with the West Ham midfielder likely to leave Lopetegui’s side before the transfer window closes later tonight.

Lauded by Alan Shearer as ‘world-class’, Ward-Prowse could relish with the chance of returning to his boyhood club and helping Russell Martin fight for Premier League survival, with Southampton also close to signing Aaron Ramsdale.

With a number of ambitious deals in the works, the Saints are making a real effort to bring in as much quality as possible in their bid to avoid the drop and to re-establish themselves as a constant fixture in the Premier League.

And re-signing Ward-Prowse could do just that for Southampton, especially with West Ham open to selling the 29-year-old midfielder on the final day of the transfer window.

Ward-Prowse’s return to Southampton could be completed today

Deadline day is one of the most chaotic days in the football calender, when anything can happen and developments are always going on behind the scenes.

And Ward-Prowse’s return to Southampton is a deal that could be completed later today, with the player and both clubs seemingly keen on ensuring that this transfer goes through in some capacity.

Indeed, Ward-Prowse is too good to remain on West Ham’s bench for the year, and with an offer to return home potentially on the table, it makes too much sense for the midfielder to re-sign for Southampton on deadline day.
