Southampton have reportedly made their final bid for Birmingham’s Che Adams

Southampton have made a take it or leave it offer to Birmingham City for striker Che Adams,

They that the Saints have been keen on the 22-year-old hitman since January but have lost patience with how negotiations, leading them to make their final bid of £14 million.

The report that Southampton will not be held to ransom, and Birmingham want £16 million for Adams, who was the main reason they comfortably avoided relegation last season despite being hit with a nine-point deduction.

Adams hit 22 goals for the Blues last term, and can also play in wide areas or even as a number ten.

In truth, if the two clubs are only £2 million away in their valuations of the player, and Birmingham are managerless after letting Garry Monk go, you’d expect this deal to get done.

But Southampton perhaps feel they have to make a splash to ensure that a transfer saga that has dragged on for six months now does not cut into July and more importantly, their pre-season preparations.

Would Adams be a success in the Premier League? He’s got the physical attributes and the eye for goal, it’s just whether he could hone the rest of his game to be a consistent threat. But he’s the right age and profile for what Southampton want to achieve under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
