Southampton fans tear into ‘shocking’ Mohamed Elyounoussi
Mohamed Elyounoussi got his opportunity to try impress in the side against Derby County in the FA Cup third round – and many Southampton fans on Twitter were furious with his performance.
The Saints were held 2-2 away to Championship opposition Derby despite the fact Nathan Redmond’s brace had put them firmly in the ascendancy.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side let their two-goal lead disintegrate and will now have to face a replay at St Mary’s for a spot in the next round.
There were several opportunities for some fringe players to stake a claim in the team and it will be interesting to see what the manager took from the team.

A selection of Southampton fans on social media were frustrated with the contribution of Elyounoussi to the contest.
The Norwegian winger has had a difficult start since his £16million arrival () in the summer from Basel and is yet to score or assist in a single match.
He was once again lacking end product in the final third and missed a glorious chance to give his side a 3-2 lead, but was shortly after substituted off by the manager.
Elyounoussi was directly involved in 30 goals across all competitions last season for Basel and has great technical ability, but it’s not quite happened for him yet in England.
Here are some of the harsh Southampton fan reactions to his performance:
A not so solid 5/10.

Might have to sell Elyounoussi at this rate.

Has Elyounoussi ever had a good performance for us?

After missing that sitter from 6 yards, Elyounoussi has to go

Poor, but no surprise from what weve seen this season. No real threat upfront again. How did we end up with Mo Elyounoussi ? So poor and cost £16M. Ralph is going to be frustrated to the extreme and only new players will sort the mess out.

Can we just sell elyounoussi now?
— Steve Mays (@SaintStee)
Been very dull. Elyounoussi is also shocking again with long and austin surviving to stay together upfront. Where’s Gabbiadini when we need him ? ?
