Southampton fans react to Liverpool loanee Takumi Minamino’s goal

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Takumi Minamino after the Liverpool loanee scored yet another superb goal for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side on Saturday.

The Saints were given a glimpse of the 26-year-old’s quality on his debut earlier this month. The Japan international scored a wonderful goal in the defeat at Newcastle.

But his second goal for the club – which came against Chelsea – was arguably on another level. The forward was played through after a stunning pass from Nathan Redmond.

Minamino looked as though he was going to take a shot on his right foot after driving into the box. However, he took a delicate touch inside as Cesar Azpilicueta made a desperate attempt to get a block in.

And with the defender and Edouard Mendy overcommitting, Minamino gently poked the ball into the back of the net with the outside of his boot.

It was an outrageous piece of composure from the Reds loanee. And it means that the forward has now scored one more league goal than his parent club have since his Southampton debut.

‘Gets better every time I see it’

Unsurprisingly, plenty of Southampton fans feel that keeping Minamino beyond his loan spell would be a fantastic piece of business.

Many have lauded the fantastic strike. And some have expressed a hope that there may be scope for the Saints to agree a further deal with Liverpool.

With that in mind, here is how some of the Southampton fans reacted to Minamino’s goal…
