Southampton fans react to Elyounoussi’s display against Derby
Southampton took on Derby County in their FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday night.
The Saints were dumped out of the competition by Frank Lampard’s Championship outfit on penalties, after the sides played out a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes.

It will have been a bitter pill for Southampton to swallow, after Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men went 2-0 up in the match.
Goals from Stuart Armstrong and Nathan Redmond gave the south coast club a comfortable position, before Harry Wilson and Martyn Waghorn struck for the visitors at St. Mary’s.
A spirited Derby managed to hold their nerve in the resulting shootout, and will now take on Accrington in the fourth round.
With Southampton looking set for a relegation battle, perhaps an early exit from the FA Cup is not such a travesty.

Surely Premier League survival has to be the priority for the club, which has been in the English top flight now for six-and-a-half seasons.
Elyounoussi struggles again
Around half of Southampton’s team played well against the Rams despite the eventual defeat, with the other half not so great.
One man who again failed to deliver though was summer signing Mohamed Elyounoussi.

The Norwegian winger struggled to impose himself and lost the ball on a number of occasions.
It was another bad display, in what has been a really tough start for the £18 million man – and it didn’t go unnoticed by the fans on social media.
Southampton fans react
I’ve seen absolutely nothing in 6 months that justifies elyounoussi’s £18 million price tag. Lightweight, slow, can’t finish. No goals… no assists. Shocking.

No lie that is one of the worst individual performance by a player I’ve ever seen. Mohammed Elyounoussi. Abysmal.

Would’ve taken a fair few Derby players over our players tonight. Sums up the state of squad atm. Elyounoussi, Cedric, Stephens ?

FA Cup: Round 3 Replay – 2-2 (p) Derby
How’s this happened again? Elyounoussi was absolutely atrocious, one of the worst outfield performances I’ve seen in a while. Bednarek should’ve come in hindsight on to shut up shop. At least we can focus on the league…

I can’t watch Elyounoussi any longer it’s killing me, was painful tonight, where did you get him from??♀️
— abbie (@abbiexleex)
Elyounoussi has barely had a touch and looks well of the pace. Looks like he didn’t get the memo about pressing and tackling
— Matt Kemp (@matt_kempez)
He’s so very bad. He offers nothing and never fails to screw up a move.
— SaintM (@SaintMikeB)
I keep hearing Elyounoussi followed by a Derby players name. ??♂️

What is the point of Elyounoussi?
— Mat Walker (@matmads)
Elyounoussi’s been given so many chances and not taken any of them. Feel his days are numbered
