Tottenham’s Son Heung-min so impressed by ‘amazing’ Newcastle player after playing against him
Son Heung-min was full of praise for one Newcastle United player on Sunday, despite Tottenham Hotspur securing an emphatic win over Eddie Howe’s side.
Son was speaking on (broadcast on 10/12; 18:37) after going up against Kieran Trippier, in a battle which was most definitely won by the South Korean.
Son Heung-min was back to his best on Sunday. Spurs were superb, making the most of how tired the Newcastle squad clearly were. And their captain was at the heart of almost everything they did.
Son Heung-min praises Kieran Trippier after Tottenham win
Son set up Destiny Udogie and Richarlison for the first two goals. And he won and converted the penalty which rounded off the scoring from a Tottenham perspective in the second-half.

Certainly, the 31-year-old ensured that it was a pretty miserable return to North London for Kieran Trippier. Trippier was clearly struggling to try and contain the attacker.
Nevertheless, Son suggested that he is a huge admirer of his former Tottenham teammate – even if he could easily put their friendship to one side for the duration of the game.
“Look, Tripps is one of my closest friends and we had a fantastic time here. But when you play against each other, there’s no friends,” he told .
“I tried to beat him when he’s in the game. But look, he’s an amazing, amazing defender and it was a hard time for me.”
Newcastle need to somehow find second wind
The last couple of games have clearly been just a few steps too far for the Magpies. They suffered two heavy defeats. And it is not like Tottenham have not had their injury issues either.
The main worry for Eddie Howe’s side will be they that face AC Milan in their final Champions League group-stage clash on Wednesday.
There is an opportunity to remain in Europe should they avoid defeat. And a win could see them reach the knockout stages.
But clearly, it says a lot about how much the squad is struggling right now when someone as reliable and consistent as Trippier is finding life difficult.
