Son Heung-min raves about Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham star Son Heung-min has heaped praise on defender Toby Alderweireld during a recent interview with

The South Korean star was quizzed by the website on which players aside from Harry Kane understand his traits best out on the pitch.

His partnership with Harry Kane has really blossomed this season, with the duo in fine form for Tottenham.

The 28-year-old has scored 18 goals and registered 16 assists in Mourinho’s team during 2020/21.

He is widely considered as one of the best versatile forwards in world football and his form this season has been a joy to behold.

Son believes that plenty of Tottenham players understand him out on the pitch but feels the centre-back perhaps doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

“I think everyone does. I think Tanguy (Ndombele) is understanding me very, very well. Moussa understands me well too.

“Toby though is definitely one. I think because he’s far away from me (on the pitch), I think nobody is talking about Toby’s passing but he’s understanding me really, really well.”

Alderweireld has started 17 games in the Premier League this season and has been a key part of three straight league wins.

He has a contract until 2023 and it would seem that Mourinho values the player highly.

Son spoke well to Stadium Astro and his comments would suggest that all of the team are pulling in the right direction.

After last night’s 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb, Tottenham are on course for a quarter-final berth in the Europa League.

They also have a Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City to look forward to and their bad form appears to be behind them.

Mentioning Alderweireld for his passing qualities is perhaps a surprise given that Spurs boast some true quality in attack and in midfield.

It does highlight just how capable the Belgian is, however, and a world-class centre-back to play alongside him will probably be sought in the summer.

If Tottenham can get their recruitment right at the back, they could improve once again next season.
