‘Someone should tell him’: Some Celtic fans hit back at Rangers man’s comments on Hoops

A number of Celtic fans have hit back at Nikola Katic’s claim that Glasgow Rangers would have brought the title to Ibrox last season had they played Neil Lennon’s Hoops every week.

Rangers were much improved in the first half of the 2019-20 campaign following a number of shrewd acquisitions in the summer.

Indeed, Steven Gerrard’s charges went into the winter break having beaten their rivals 2-1 at Parkhead and very much playing the Bhoys off the park on that occasion.

After football resumed in January, however, the Ibrox side’s domestic form collapsed, while Celtic were relentless in seeing off their league opponents.

By the time Scottish football was suspended, the Hoops sat 13 points clear at the top of the table and were eventually crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth year in a row.

“In the league, Celtic have been champions for years, but we matched them very well last season before we fell away after the break,” Katic is quoted by the as saying.

“I feel we are at least on their level… if we had played every game last season against Celtic, we would be champions. Against them, we were always playing at a high standard.

“In the cup final, we were impossibly good against Celtic, but just couldn’t score.”
