Some Tottenham fans believe Lamela will follow Mourinho to Roma
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have tipped winger Erik Lamela to make the move to AS Roma, after the Italian side announced Jose Mourinho as their new manager for the 2021/2022 season.
In a tweet from their official Twitter account, the Serie A outfit announced the Portuguese manager would take over from Paulo Fonseca, after it was confirmed a few hours earlier that he’d been leaving at the end of the campaign.
Lamela seemed to be one of the favourites under Mourinho during the former Chelsea man’s time with the north London outfit. Out of the 58-year-old’s 84 games at the helm, the Argentine figured in across all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting a further three.
Reports have already claimed the 29-year-0ld will leave Spurs in the summer and, with Mourinho managing his former club, there could be an extra incentive for Lamela to make the move back to Rome.

After what has been an underwhelming eight years in north London, moving on Lamela may have just got that much easier with Mourinho’s appointment at Roma.
The duo seemed to have struck up a meaningful relationship during their time together at Tottenham over the last 18 months and a reunion would suit both Spurs and the attacker.
Some Tottenham fans seemed certain the South American is due to head back to Italy as they reacted on Twitter:
Take Lamela with you 👍

Any of players actually like Mourinho enough to go to Roma with him? Wouldn’t be massively shocked if Lamela ended up back there.

Just realised the Mourinho fans have gone to Roma which might be followed by the Lamela fans. We’re free.
