Some Spurs fans slate Jose Mourinho for not picking 21-year-old who ‘hasn’t had a bad game for us’
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have hit out at Jose Mourinho for failing to give Japhet Tanganga enough game time in wake of last night’s shock Europa League elimination.
The 21-year-old defender was very much one of Tottenham’s success stories during a difficult 2019-20 campaign, making his first-team breakthrough and looking like a future regular.
Tanganga made his debut in the League Cup defeat to Colchester before making his Premier League bow against Liverpool on 11 January, where he excelled against the fierce Reds front line.

Injuries hampered his progress earlier this season but despite now being available, he’s barely been getting any game time.
Tanganga has made just nine appearances in all competitions this season, two of which have come in the Premier League.
He was an unused substitute in the last-16 second leg against Dinamo Zagreb, the hosts running out 3-0 winners to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
And in wake of the dismal result, some Spurs fans now think it’s time to leave out the seniors who have let the team down and utilise the academy graduates:
If you look at what I’ve said in the past I’ve been all youngsters to be given a chance. I wouldn’t slate them plus Tanganga hasn’t had a bad game for us and still doesn’t get given the chance.

Jose is blameless to a point. Stop picking the same dross. He has Roden and Tanganga on the bench who’ve not had a chance to prove themselves. The players who don’t care, freeze them out. Call some youngsters up who are hungry. He doesn’t change anything

It’s about time he went. Get someone in who will give the younger players a chance to progress, like Tanganga, Rodon and give Alli a chance to re-establish himself to gain his confidence back. Bye bye Jose.

I’ve wanted Tanganga at CB for a while not sure why he isn’t playing. He was refused a loan move in January & has hardly played. He’s a solid RB as well but doesn’t get forward enough so we lose a an out ball if he’s a rb.

Tanganga > Doherty and aurier

Tanganga Rodon Sanchez Reguilon. Hugo. Those are the 5 defensive players that should start on Sunday

I reakon tanganga is our #1 RB and Rodon must be poor in training not to get in to this teams defence

And so it should! Tanganga has come through our youth ranks and knows what it means to play for spurs like Kane does👌🏻 Dier and Sanchez doesn’t work and to still pick that lineup is a sackable offence
