Some Spurs fans rejoice as Fabrizio Romano posts ‘sensational’ update on target who ‘wants to join’ club

Tottenham supporters are buzzing over Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Sky Sports Italia journalist to post that that Spurs are now leading the race for the Serie A star. Moreover, Tomiyasu ‘wants to join’ the north London side.

Spurs face competition from Atalanta for the Japanese international. However, it appears that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are firmly in the driving seat to sign Tomiyasu.

The 22-year-old is one of the highest-rated defenders currently playing in Italy. Tomiyasu is accomplished at both right-back and centre-back, and for Tottenham, this suits what they are looking for this summer perfectly.

Spurs are looking for extra cover in central defence as well as quality at right fullback. Serge Aurier is likely to leave the club this summer. Whilst Matt Doherty was unimpressive in his first year with Tottenham.

Indeed, Tomiyasu could be the north London side’s first signing this summer. And supporters on social media were buzzing with the news from Fabrizio Romano that the defender is keen to join the club.
