Rangers slipped to their first defeat of 2020/21, losing 3-2 to St Mirren in the League Cup quarter-final.
Steven Gerrard’s side’s hopes of silverware were dashed by the Buddies, who responded brilliantly to going a goal down early.

Conor Goldson put the visitors ahead, which set Rangers up nicely, but there were to be no real clear-cut chances in the first-half. Jamie McGrath then equalised from the spot after a clumsy challenge from Calvin Bassey.
McGrath scored again seven minutes after the restart, but Steven Davis then equalised from a James Tavernier free-kick to set up the prospect of extra-time.
But that never came, as Conor McCarthy popped up at the death to dump Rangers out, and leave Gerrard with plenty to think about.

It was a hugely disappointing result for Rangers, whose unbeaten run comes to an end after 27 games.
After the game, some fans got to discussing Filip Helander, who was back on the bench last night after testing positive for Covid-19 at the end of November.
Leon Balogun did not have the best outing in Paisley, and some fans are hoping to see £3.5 million signing Helander () back in alongside Goldson this weekend against Motherwell.
Gerrard said after the game that Balogun was ‘dizzy’ after being caught by Jon Obika during the closing stages, meaning Helander could well earn a recall.
Last night was bad ,man for man we were poor. People slaughter morelos but u dont realise what he brings till hes no playing 🤷♂️ need get this out the system fast and get back to winning ways in the league. Me personally i would bring big helander back in to the defence on Sunday.

Hopefully Helander is back in Saturday, Benfica away aside he’s been top notch, exactly what’s needed for the games coming up, experienced and loves defending, we are a much better unit when he’s in the side.

Btw Helander can’t come back quick enough. As a unit we are much more comfortable and convincing with him and Goldson. I like Balogun but Helander is the better all rounder in terms of positioning, calmness etc. We need him back for this mental run of games coming up.

Let’s hope we see Helander soon, Really missed Jack dictating the midfield

Helander in on the weekend I would imagine, need to get him up to speed as hes more of a calming presence. Jack being fit would be nice also, feel teams the last few games are hurting us more.

We need Helander back in.

I do think whether Balogun got injured or not, Helander was going to be back in the team on Saturday. I do like Balogun but Helander’s the better defender of the two 👍

Said this so many times we’re nowhere near as solid at the back without Helander, missed him massively tonight 🤔
