Some people on Chelsea’s board now want to get rid of their £50m player this summer
Raheem Sterling’s future at Chelsea appears to be up in the air with some members of the board ready to get rid of him this summer.
The Blues have had another disappointing season, haven’t they? Chelsea are currently 10th in the table, having picked up just 35 points from their first 25 Premier League games. Sterling has had a much better campaign than last time, but he’s yet to convince everybody.

Some people on Chelsea’s board want to sell Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City before the start of last season in a £50 million deal ().
The Englishman was among the best attackers in the Premier League during his time at the Etihad. He was magnificent there, but he hasn’t been able to replicate the same kind of form at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling scored just nine goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season – only six of those came in the Premier League. He has eight goals and eight assists already in this campaign, which is an improvement.
However, journalist Dean Jones has claimed that some members of Chelsea’s hierarchy would like to see him moved on at the end of this season.
He told : “There are some at the club who feel that his experience and his qualities are definitely worth sticking with and persisting with.
“But, there are others who would be quite happy for Sterling to be moved on at this stage.
“This is just where we are with Chelsea right now, for various reasons. There are splits within the hierarchy over how happy they are and the direction they want Chelsea to go in.
“I think it’s that situation that raises doubts about whether Raheem Sterling does actually end up staying beyond the summer. It could be a bit of a power battle to see who gets their way.”

Getting rid of Raheem Sterling will not be easy
When Chelsea signed Raheem Sterling over 18 months ago, they decided to give him a contract until the summer of 2027, with an option of extending that by another 12 months.
The Blues also made him their highest-paid player – he earns an eye-watering £325,000 a week ().
Sterling is 29 already, and based on the fact that he looks nowhere near the player he was at Manchester City, we just can’t see any club willing to pay him wages that high.
That could complicate things for Chelsea if they decide to put him on the transfer list at the end of the season.
