Some Liverpool fans react after coach claims £17m table-topper is Anfield-bound
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on Ugurcan Cakir’s former coach claiming that the 24-year-old is set for a summer move to Anfield.
Cakir is a talented young goalkeeper who plies his trade for Turkish side Trabzonspor, his efforts this season helping the team to the top of the Superlig table.
Liverpool reportedly saw a €15million (£13.5million) offer rejected last summer, according to Turkish outlet , and ended up signing Adrian instead.
Jurgen Klopp currently has Alisson Becker, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher at his disposal, with Loris Karius returning from his loan spell at Besiktas.

Despite a glut of custodians at Liverpool, Cakir’s former coach, Sadi Tekelioglu, has claimed that the keeper will complete a transfer to Merseyside this summer for around £17million.
“50 million Euros may be too much for us (Turkish clubs), but not for Europe,” Tekelioglu told . “Ugurcan had a suitor last season. I gave Ugurcan an idea to go to the teams in England.
“Liverpool will transfer Ugurcan Cakır at the end of the season. Trabzonspor will not say no to Liverpool’s offer. I met with Ugurcan. He told me that Liverpool took care of him.”
While Cakir has done very well this season, the Reds don’t seem particularly in need of reinforcements in between the sticks.
Likewise, some Liverpool fans aren’t convinced by Tekelioglu’s comments and had their say on social media:
Do we need keeper now??? Imo, Karius shd be given another chance.

So we can’t spend £50M on Werner but are willing to drop 20 on a backup goalie when we have Karius and Adrian

We ain’t paying crazy money for a back up

I dont think we need another GK even if the club had to loan Karius again next season. But i hope he will stay if Adrian was out

Never will we spend £17.53m on a sub GK. Especially now with the financial uncertainty

What a load of rubbish. Why would be buying him.

This deal makes no sense. I get Adrian will likely leave for first team. We’ll want to get rid of Karius. But paying £17m for a sub is not worth it. If he was like 18 y/o and had massive potential. We loan him out to English teams for 3 years then maybe. But no. No deal!
