Some Liverpool fans have sympathy for departed winger Markovic
It was a relatively quiet day for Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
The Reds didn’t bring in anyone new, despite being linked with the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Sandro Tonali, and will now seek to keep their momentum going with the players they have.
There were a few outgoings though, including U23 captain Matty Virtue who joined Blackpool, Liam Miller who went to Kilmarnock on loan and Pedro Chirivella who has pitched up at Spanish outfit Extremadura UD.

Another player who left the club was Lazar Markovic ().
Fulham signed the winger on a free transfer at the 11th hour on Thursday, bringing an end to his disastrous four-and-a-half year spell at Anfield.
A £20 million hit
Markovic leaving for nothing means that Liverpool took a £20 million hit on the player, after he was signed for that sum by former boss Brendan Rodgers in the summer 2014 from Benfica.
He only ever made 34 appearances for the club and scored three goals.

His Anfield stint included being sent out on loan four times to Fenerbahce, Sporting CP, Hull City and Anderlecht.
It simply didn’t work out for the Serbia international, who arrived with a promising reputation as a 20-year-old.
Fan reaction
Although the majority of Liverpool supporters won’t be too sad to see the back of Markovic, some did have sympathy for the player and believe he had a hard time of things because of Rodgers’ management.
I’ve actually never felt anything but pity for Markovic, tbh. Ruined by Rodgers. We’re lucky Firmino didn’t go the same way.

So Lazar Markovic has finally left Liverpool. He started well at LFC, but then Rodgers ruined his confidence and made him a scape goat for his own mistakes .Talented player, and still young … Only 24. Seems like he’s been around for years.

I really hope Lazar Markovic has a rest of season to remember at Fulham, hope he kicks on somewhere else. Showed promise early on but don’t think Rodgers really knew what to do with him. The rest is quite a sad state of affairs, really.

I wanted Lazar Markovic to do well. When he played under Rodgers (out of position usually) I thought he worked hard and had potential to improve. But Klopp has shown he’ll give anyone a chance as long as they deserve it. The fact that he’s never played for him shows he didn’t.

Fulham getting Markovic on a free is a great deal for them. Don’t think he got a fair go under Rodgers & has suffered ever since. I always thought he gave his all when selected, & is a much better player than a lot of our fans think. Good luck

Always felt sorry for Markovic. Came to a new country on his own at 20 years old, playing for one of the biggest clubs in the country and Rodgers either played him right wing back or ignored him completely. Hope he does well for Fulham. Good luck lad

Yes I love klopp don’t get how from what I said you think I don’t rate klopp.. markovic confidence had been killed off by rodgers he hasn’t recovered from his spell at Liverpool yet

Wishing all the best at Fulham. Tear it up kid & sorry it never worked out for you at LFC. Rodgers completely annihilated your career ?. Very Unpopular opinion, but Markovic is still a better backup option then what we’ve currently got at the club for the front 3.

He started well at LFC, but then Rodgers ruined his confidence and made him a scape goat for his own mistakes … Talented player, and still young … Don’t be surprised if Ranieri has another Albrighton scenario with Markovic …

Rodgers ruined him
