Some Leeds fans react to announcement about Junior Firpo

Some fans were reacting after the club confirmed the arrival of Junior Firpo.

The defender has joined the Whites from Barcelona on a four-year deal for a fee believed to be €15m (£12.8m). He had lunch with sporting director Victor Orta over a move to Yorkshire.

Firpo endured a tough time with the Catalan giants last season, making just 18 appearances across all competitions.

As the 24-year-old joins the club, Ezgjan Alioski leaves. It was announced yesterday the North Macedonia international was leaving following the expiration of his contract last month.

The Spaniard will be competing for the left-back spot with youngster Leif Davies.

The arrival of Firpo at Elland Road is a coup for Leeds United.

Replacing Alioski was a key target for this summer’s transfer window after the ace’s performances last term. The Macedonian made 36 appearances in the Premier League, clocking up the sixth-most minutes for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

However, Firpo proves to be an incredible upgrade on the 29-year-old. During his final season with Real Betis, the Dominican Republic born player contributed eight goals in 29 games.

It helped the club reach the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey.
