Some Everton fans react to Yerry Mina’s performance against Crystal Palace
Everton have continued their 100 percent start to the new season after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men were made to work for the win against a difficult Eagles side and were eventually rewarded for their persistence by a favourable penalty decision. Richarlison duly dispatched the penalty to secure the win, after Cheikhou Kouyate had previously levelled Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s opener.
There were plenty of positives to take from the game, but one which Everton fans were seemingly divided on was the performance of Yerry Mina.
The Colombian defender is fairly unpopular as a player with one section of fans, who feel he is erratic and not reliable defensively. Indeed, after this game, there was still plenty of criticism for the former Barcelona man mostly due to his irritating knack of giving away needless free-kicks.

That criticism, however, was fairly unfounded.
Mina put in an imperious aerial display against Palace and nullified their threat on numerous occasions.
He was brave in the challenge, even throwing his head at a grounded ball at one point, in the style of Phil Jones.
Everton fans have some concerns over Mina but on this occasion the Colombian showcased what he was capable of.
Plenty of Everton fans on Twitter appeared to appreciate that…
Didn’t see anything other than a solid CB display from Yerald!? Not sure what game some people are watching!

If we had just signed Yerry Mina everyone would be raving about that performance. But he’s been here for 2 years so it’s become fashionable to criticise him.

Yerry Mina was my MoM today.

I don’t know what people want. Last week, Mina wasn’t physical enough in stepping up on an attacker. This week he’s physical, sticking his head in, and heading everything that comes his way. Palace had ONE SHOT on goal. And Zaha was invisible.

Massive win that, don’t mean to go full Brendan Rodgers but we’ve shown great character and grit there.
Not the nicest performance but we got the 3 points, big shout out to the defence for holding in there. Mina my MOTM, headed everything. S’right the Toffees!✊🏻🔵

Has Mina just tried to header the ball whilst at someones feet?😂 That’s what you call commitment hahaha

Yerry Mina would’ve headed a concrete block today it meant Zaha would’ve got in behind. UTFT

Just thinking of Yerry Mina throwing head had at the ball & feet whilst lying on the turf. 💪💀😂 love it

Yerry Mina is better than Thiago Silva.

Whether you like him as a player, or you don’t, Yerry Mina has a lot of courage. He stuck his head in quite a few times today, and didn’t even seem to hesitate.👍⚽️😎
