Celtic’s hopes of escaping their Europa League group hang in the balance following a dismal 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague at Celtic Park.
Neil Lennon’s side were extremely poor and now have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the competition’s knockout stages having taken just a point from their first three games – realistically the Hoops will need to win all their remaining games to go through.

Celtic just weren’t at the races, with the visitors not even needing to work all that hard to get their goals.
There was no imagination from Celtic, and there were many, many misplaced passes from the hosts.
Odsonne Edouard was starved of service, and the lack of confidence to get the ball forwards and try to penetrate was palpable. And some of the defending was downright comical.
Leigh Griffiths made an instant impact for Celtic following his substitution, following up to score after a Tom Rogic shot was saved.
That gave Celtic brief hope at 2-1 but there was to be no equaliser, with brilliant Sparta forward Lukas Julis completing his hat-trick on 76 minutes and substitute Ladislav Krejci rubbing salt in the wounds at the death.

Pretty much every player has come in for a pasting on social media – but some Celtic fans did appreciate the efforts of loan star Diego Laxalt, who was tireless at left wing-back before he made way with around 15 minutes to go.
He was arguably the only player who tried to make things happen and recognise the magnitude of the occasion, during what was a truly terrible night for the club.
Laxalt deserves better.

Wee Laxalt everytime he goes to take a throw, raging that nobody wants it. If only the rest of the team had his urgency.

Laxalt only man who’s playing as if he cares about what people think of him . Everyone else too comfortable stealing a wage.
— lee devine (@sandldevine_lee)
Laxalt the only player playing with any idea what he’s doing, almost like he doesn’t understand the utter drivel coaching that’s been given to the team.

Got to feel bad for laxalt sitting comfy on the bench at AC Milan and coming here instead

Laxalt is far too good to be playing in that team.
He’s on another planet.

See if Laxalt missed the train he’d probably chase it down the line!

Laxalt is quality
