Some Celtic fans have reacted to links with Rennes ace Mbaye Niang.
According to Foot Mercato, the Senegalese striker is a target for the Glasgow giants. However, the Bhoys will be competing with Nottingham Forest and Anderlecht, who are also keen on the France-born player.
Niang has endured a tough time following his exit from AC Milan. He has bounced from club to club and spent the second half of last season on loan with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. The centre-forward scored just last term, for Rennes in Ligue 1.
Niang’s form not what it was
Niang has lost his ways in recent years amid links with a move to Celtic.
The forward first burst onto the scene at the start of the 2010s and immediately made a move to the San Siro.
However, the shoes were far too big for the player to fill at the time and he quickly exited.
Since his failure in Italy, Niang has been and gone from England, struggling during a loan spell with Watford.
For a striker, he isn’t the most potent of players, scoring just 63 times in 288 games across all competitions.
The 26-year-old would be an underwhelming replacement for Odsonne Edouard should the Frenchman leave Celtic this summer.
Here is how some Bhoys fans reacted to the latest claims…
