Some Arsenal fans saddened by report concerning David Luiz

Some Arsenal fans were left feeling frustrated after it emerged that representatives of David Luiz have begun dialogue with clubs from Major League Soccer.

According to , the player has yet to open talks with the Gunners over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.

The former Chelsea man has been at the club since joining from the Blues on deadline day back in the summer of 2019. He already signed a one-year extension following the Premier League campaign last year.

During his time at the club, the defender has been roundly praised for his leadership qualities on and off the pitch from Mikel Arteta and junior players. Mikel Arteta hailed the Brazil international as a , while labelled the veteran ace a ‘big brother’.

The 34-year-old is currently nursing a hamstring injury suffered during the 2-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend. However, he is thought to be on the way back before the end of the campaign.
