Some Arsenal fans react as Monaco reportedly open Willock talks

Some Arsenal fans were reacting after AS Monaco allegedly joined the race for Joe Willock.

According to RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 outfit are in talks with the Gunners for the Englishman. It is said the side’s bid for Olympique Lyonnais’s Jean Lucas has stalled, hence their move for the 21-year-old.

The French side join Newcastle United in wanting to sign the midfielder. Steve Bruce’s men expect to receive a decision over Willock’s future in the next 48 hours with the club confident.

It seems Willock could be in north London. A sale of the midfielder would raise some much needed funds for Mikel Arteta as he looks to reinforce his squad.

Willock would benefit from playing under wings of Fabregas

Willock would benefit from playing under the stewardship of Monaco and ex-Arsenal ace Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard is currently on the books of the Ligue 1 outfit and, given his quality, would be the best teacher for the youngster.

Meanwhile, the potential presence of Champions League football would introduce some high-level competition for Willock.

Up until this point in his career, the £30m-rated academy product has only ever played in the Europa League. Testing his ability against the best clubs around the continent would be the best judge of his overall ability.
