Solskjaer has to make career-defining decision on Manchester United duo

Manchester United have registered just three wins in the Premier League since 6 March. In August, they managed just a goal a game against Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves.

Why are the Red Devils struggling so much in front of goal? The answer is simple: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn’t made a decision on Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial. A decision that will define the players’ careers and United’s season.

can play on either wing, he can adapt to those around him. The question is, who will be on the opposite wing this year? If United want to start firing on all cylinders then Solskjaer has to make a choice.

It is no secret that £36million man () Martial and Rashford both want that number 9 spot, that central berth. This season they have taken turns in the role, with Rashford occasionally resigned to the wing that Martial has often found himself on throughout his United career. This chopping and changing is doing no good for anyone involved.

If the Red Devils want to return to the free-scoring form they enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson then they need to pick a number 9 and stick with him.

Martial and Rashford are both young and have untold potential. If Solskjaer wants even one of these players to reach their potential, they need a full season through the middle. Neither player is a winger, neither will be happy there.

If Solskjaer refuses to play them together, competition will increase and form will improve. They both need experience. Give it to one of them.
