Solskjaer claims West Ham-linked Lingard will be part of his plans

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that West Ham-linked Jesse Lingard is part of his Manchester United plans.

According to the Sun, David Moyes is keen on bringing the 28-year-old, who is valued at £20m, back.

The Red Devils opened their pre-season with a 2-1 win over Derby County with the Englishman playing 45 minutes.

Lingard enjoyed a stunning loan spell with the Hammers in the second half of last season. He scored nine times in just 15 Premier League games, helping the club qualify for the Europa League.

It came after he was seemingly frozen out of United’s first-team in the first half of the campaign.

However, he seems to have left a lasting impression on the Norwegian manager, who spoke in glowing terms yesterday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, : “He’s come back bright, confident and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham. He’s still in my plans. I expect him at Man Utd at the start of the season.”

West Ham can ill-afford to miss out on Lingard

West Ham can ill-afford to miss out on Lingard after the comments from Solskjaer.

The attacker formed a key part of Moyes’ attack last season during his loan spell. Trying to replace him would prove a far greater headache for the Scotsman this summer.

While Solskjaer has claimed the ace will be part of his plans, every player has his price.

West Ham may need to fork out a huge transfer fee, however, it will prove worth it in the grand scheme of things.

Lingard was a breath of fresh air and needs to return to the London Stadium this summer.
