Sold in 2015, Crystal Palace must regret the departure of Glenn Murray

When Crystal Palace offloaded Glenn Murray to Bournemouth in September 2015 for £4 million, the Eagles must have thought they made a shrewd sale of an aging striker.

Yet fast forward three years and Palace must surely regret the departure of the evergreen forward, as the Brighton frontman continues to light up the Premier League well into his thirties.

At 35 years of age, Murray has bagged six goals to date in the league, placing him third in the scoring charts — on par with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling, and Harry Kane.

His predatory instincts in front of goal are as sharp as ever, with Murray’s remarkable performance against Manchester United this fall worthy of particular praise.

And while Murray scores for fun at the AmEx, Palace will be ruing their luck. Currently devoid of a top-quality striker at Selhurst Park, the Eagles have struggled to find their attacking rhythm this campaign.

Unfortunately for Crystal Palace, they might have retained the services of one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards if they did not make the £4 million decision to sell Glenn Murray back in 2015.
