Sol Campbell says he played with a winger at Arsenal who was even better than Bukayo Saka
Arsenal have just picked up what is perhaps one of the greatest results in the club’s history.
Indeed, Arsenal just beat Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the Champions League, and this Arsenal side could achieve immortality by winning Europe’s top prize for the first time ever.
PSG will be a tough test for Arsenal, but, as the quarter-finals showed, anything is possible.
Arsenal’s current greatest team of all-time is undoubtedly The Invincibles, and while there’s an argument to make that some current Arsenal players would get into that team, it’s a difficult topic.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sol Campbell has been building his combined XI of past and present Arsenal stars, and he made quite the claim about one of his former teammates.

Sol Campbell picks Robert Pires over Bukayo Saka
Campbell was asked to build a combined XI made up of The Invincibles and the current crop of Arsenal stars.
There were some easy decisions to make here – Thierry Henry over Kai Havertz and Patrick Vieira over Thomas Partey weren’t difficult choices to make.
However, Campbell did become a bit unstuck when asked to pick between Robert Pires and Bukayo Saka.
Saka is a world-class player these days, but Campbell still picked Pires ahead of the current Arsenal star.
“Robert Pires or Bukayo Saka?” Campbell was asked.
“Oh my god, he could shoot harder with his instep than anyone could shoot with their laces, Pires, yeah, Pires,” Campell said.
Sol Campbell’s combined XI
Campbell picked Pires over Saka, and, that wasn’t the only one of his former teammates he showed a bit of bias towards.
Indeed, while Campbell was supposed to pick a combined XI of past and present players, ultimately, the former England star chose an entire XI of his former teammates.

You could make a case for William Saliba getting in this team. After all, Saliba is the best defender in the world according to some.
However, it is difficult to argue against a team that went an entire Premier Leagye season unbeaten compared to a side that is yet to win a single major trophy as a group.
Arsenal’s current crop have the chance to make history in the Champions League, but, until then, The Invincibles still reign supreme as the greatest team in Arsenal’s history.
