‘So happy’: England international reacts to news coming out of Everton last night

Tyrone Mings and Conor Coady are Premier League captains and England internationals who have had a tricky start to the season.

Mings was left on the bench for Villa’s opening game of the campaign, the 2-0 defeat to newly-promoted Bournemouth on Saturday.

Coady was also benched as Wolves went down 2-1 against Leeds at Elland Road, but he has now a move to Everton.

In a World Cup year, it is important for both players to be playing regularly and Coady has moved on loan in search of gametime.

Mings congratulates Coady

Mings has been demoted as Villa captain to boot, and the armband will be passed to Ruben Neves at Molineux after Coady’s departure.

Coady posted a message on Instagram stating how pleased he is about making the move to Goodison Park, despite growing up as a Liverpool fan.

Mings was among the many replies, saying: “So happy for you brother,” before joking: “Did they leave the coat hanger in on the second pic?”

Coady’s Molineux exit looks to have moved quickly and it is something of a surprise that such a senior player has left his club on loan.

It looks like a risk by Wolves, for whom Coady has been such a central part of their journey from the Championship to an established Premier League outfit.

Coady has huge Premier League experience and will want to be playing out of his skin to get into the World Cup squad later this year.
