‘Smith is playing with fire’: Some Villa fans question coach’s decision on 2019 summer signing
Dean Smith has reportedly made the decision to retain Wesley Moraes at Aston Villa ahead of next season.
, the Midlands manager is eager to use the Brazilian striker as a backup for Ollie Watkins.
Wesley only returned to first-team football at the end of last season after a 15-month spell out on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The striker unimpressed supporters in pre-season, though, after Wesley was sent off in Villa’s 2-0 friendly loss against Stoke City.
Indeed, the striker could be a suitable backup for Watkins next season. The attacker proved with Club Brugge that he can be a proven goalscorer. And with the likes of Jack Grealish and Emi Buendia around him, Wesley will find chances to score.
However, supporters on social media are keen on the idea of Wesley remaining with the club next season.

Whilst the Brazilian is still just 24-years-old, there is a chance that it will take a while for the attacker to fully recover from his serious injury.
Here’s what some Villa fans had to say on Twitter about Smith’s decision on Wesley on Twitter…
Smith is playing with fire by keeping him. Owners will want us to hit the floor running, so if anything happened to Watkins we only have Wesley and Davis as back up.

Needs to be sold !

I think he need to define himself what type of a striker he wants to be. A towering muscleman that wins headers? A skilful player that dribble and create oppenings? A goal poacher that is always to pounce on opportunities? until today I don’t know what type of striker he is.

Move him on, really unfortunate what happened to him but the level we want to reach this season he isn't good enough

I think we need a better option from the bench

We will know his fate by January.
