Slaven Bilic shares his view on West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson
Ex-West Ham manager Slaven Bilic was impressed by the performance of Felipe Anderson on Saturday against Manchester United.
The Hammers slipped to a away defeat at Old Trafford in the Premier League, but were unfortunate to end up on the losing side and gave a great account of themselves.
Paul Pogba scored twice from the spot to hand Manchester Untied three points and condemn Manuel Pellegrini’s team to a third consecutive defeat in the league.
But attacker Anderson caught the eye with his 10th goal of the season across all competitions, as he arrived late at the back post to tap in on the stretch.
The 25-year-old also had the ball in the back of the net in the first-half and was unlucky to be flagged offside.
Bilic, who was appearing as a pundit on BT Sport, believes that the Brazilian attacker can be an elite player when he’s on form like he was against Manchester United
But Croatian Bilic also admitted that he can go through spells of inconsistency and Saturday’s goal was the first in the league in 2019.
“He was [great]. When he’s on fire he is definitely a world-class player, that’s how he played with Lazio in Italy and that’s why he cost this much money,”
“He’s not very consistent, but great tonight and was a top player tonight.”
TBR’s View:
Anderson was at his dazzling best at Old Trafford and he showed why West Ham splashed out £36million () to sign him last summer.
The South American flyer has the pace and power to trouble any defence in the backline, which is why he’s been a key player under Pellegrini.
He is a left-winger that can be guilty of going missing in some games, but someone with his technical ability should be more effective and he will hope to finish the season on a strong individual note.
