Sky Sports pundit slams Richarlison after ‘stupid’ moment in Everton loss
Stephen Warnock that Richarlison was stupid to lash out at Jordan Henderson during the Merseyside derby, insisting that he could not understand why the Everton star risked getting sent off.
The Toffees were beaten in a fiery derby which left Stuart Attwell with a host of decisions to make. A couple of the crucial calls went against Frank Lampard’s men with Anthony Gordon not winning a penalty despite going down inside the penalty area in each half.

But one call Everton benefitted from involved Richarlison as he brought down Henderson. As the pair tussled, Richarlison put the sole of his foot on the Liverpool captain’s leg and pushed away.
The skipper went down in some pain. But Attwell ultimately decided to book the Brazilian.

It was certainly a naughty challenge from the forward. He was probably saved by the fact that he did not use a lot of force before making contact with Henderson.
Nevertheless, Warnock was hugely critical of the Everton star given the position the club currently find themselves in.
“How important is Richarlison to Everton for the run-in? If he gets sent off there, a three-game ban, and you can imagine Frank Lampard thinking ‘what are you doing?’. Everton fans would be going ballistic,” .
“I couldn’t believe he did that… I know it’s a push, but it’s into the knee. It’s just petulant and stupid – I just didn’t get it at all.”
Everton losing Richarlison now would have been a devastating blow
Everton fell into the bottom three on Sunday. And it has been well-documented that they do not have an easy run of games to end the campaign.
So losing Richarlison would have been such a massive blow. Of course, Everton can feel aggrieved about some of the calls that did not go their way. But that would not have changed anything had the 24-year-old been sent off.
He has been a shining light for Everton this season. And him missing out on any of the remaining games this term would make life so much more challenging for Lampard’s men.
