Sky Sports: Levy takes over from Paratici in talks over ‘incredible’ Tottenham transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur have hit the ground running in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have already signed winger Ivan Perisic, goalkeeper Fraser Forster and midfielder Yves Bissouma.

And it doesn’t look like Tottenham are anywhere near done in the market.

Fabrizio Romano last week that Spurs are now focusing on a new right-back and a new centre-back.

has now provided an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of a top target in one of those positions.

The outlet claims that Spurs are in line for further talks this week over Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will reportedly take over from Fabio Paratici in pursuit of the 21-year-old.

This will allow the Italian to concentrate on other transfer targets, added Sky Sports.

Apparently, initial talks between Tottenham and Boro didn’t yield a breakthrough for Spence.

Spurs reportedly indicated that they believe the full-back worth to be in excess of £10m.

Boro, however, want at least £15million plus add-ons, and so initial talks stalled.

Tottenham remain keen on Spence, who in turn reportedly wants to join Spurs, hence a new round of talks.

Tottenham are said to be eyeing young English players to deputise for, and develop under, their more senior players.

Paratici has a reputation for his hard work in the transfer market, as well as targeting numerous players at once.

This report, claiming Levy is taking over the Spence negotiations, is good news for Tottenham fans.

Spurs have locked in on the former Nottingham Forest loanee, hence Levy can pick up from where Paratici left off.

Meanwhile, the Italian can focus on other players – exciting to hear, considering we’re still not at the end of June.

Spence is a top talent and a player who could become a star for Tottenham if he joins.

The 21-year-old announced himself to a nationwide audience earlier this year when he helped knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
