Sky Sports journalist shares why Carlos Soler to West Ham deal is being held up

West Ham United have enjoyed a superb summer on the transfer front, making eight new senior signings.

Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman joined the Hammers early on in the window.

West Ham then got three more signings done early in August, as Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez all joined.

Since then, the Hammers have also recruited Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, along with getting Paris FC talent Mohamadou Kante on their books.

Now, there is one signing in particular that West Ham are looking to make as the cherry on top, namely Carlos Soler.

However, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has now provided a worrying update on the Hammers’ pursuit of the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

Carlos Soler to West Ham deal ‘stalling at this stage’

Plettenberg has taken to X to say West Ham remain keen on signing Soler, while the player himself is eager to join the Hammers.

However, West Ham need to move more players on in order to proceed in negotiations with Soler, and the player has been made aware of this.

The deal is now “stalling at this stage” and it’s a possibility that the Spaniard doesn’t leave PSG this summer, added Plettenberg.

Why Soler would be brilliant for West Ham

West Ham fans will hope that the club can offload players in the coming hours in order to keep the Soler negotiations alive.

Soler would be an incredible addition to the Hammers ranks and would take their midfield play to the next level.

Soler’s style of play has been to that of compatriots Santi Cazorla and David Silva, who played for Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.

Curro Torres, who coached Soler at Valencia, previously told AS, via : “He’s the complete midfielder and can act as a six, an eight or a 10; he has power, arrives in the box and can score.

“I know him and I know that he can still bring his game to the next level. He has taken on responsibility in the team too.”

Soler would be the ideal cherry on top, but it’s touch-and-go at the minute.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports News journalist James Green says he has spoken to West Ham about any late transfer business, and has shared what he was told.
