Sky reporter shares what he’s now heard about Lucas Bergvall and Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Djurgardens talent Lucas Bergvall in recent days.
Spurs have reportedly made their move for the 17-year-old midfielder and are currently waiting to hear back from him.
As well as Tottenham, Barcelona have apparently moved for Bergvall, so as things stand, the player is deciding which of the two he is to join.
Earlier this week, reports were doing the rounds suggesting Spurs had all-but lost out to Barca in the race for the youngster.
However, Swedish outlet claimed that speculation claiming the 17-year-old had already picked the Catalans is ‘completely wrong’.

Now, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has provided an update involving Tottenham, Bergvall and Barca on .
Bridge believes that Tottenham are fairly relaxed over the Bergvall situation as they do not necessarily need to rubber-stamp a deal on deadline day.
This is because he is not in line to feature in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans for the remainder of the season.
Bridge has also claimed that Spurs are happy to wait until the summer if Bergvall has not made a decision over his future.
“The latest update is he’s actually just deciding on where to go. His two main options are Barcelona and Spurs,” said Bridge.
“An interesting one on this is that this transfer doesn’t have to happen today because that one will be for the summer.
“He would be in the academy because, as highly-rated as he is, Spurs are telling me he would be more of an academy signing.
“But that could get done tomorrow, hypothetically.”
Positive update involving Tottenham and Lucas Bergvall
It’s good to hear that Spurs are seemingly relaxed about Bergvall’s future.
Tottenham certainly have a lot of pulling power, and he wouldn’t be the first recent signing that Spurs have made at the expense of a traditional footballing giant.
Just a few weeks ago, Tottenham beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Radu Dragusin. And in this case, the signing isn’t as urgent, as he’s not scheduled to be in the first team just yet.
Obviously the best-case scenario would be a “here we go” involving Bergvall and Spurs before the January transfer window shuts, just to make sure that he’ll be on the Tottenham books. However, by the sounds of it, it’s not essential.
