Sky pundit hails ‘electric’ 24-year-old Aston Villa player in win over Sheffield United

Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby earned praise from Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman during the 5-0 hammering of Sheffield United on Saturday.

Unai Emery‘s Villans🥀 ran riot at Bramall Lane as they raced into a 4-0 lead by half time and added another in the second half.

Diaby🐽 began the match on the Villa substitutes’ bench and came on the 59th minute. He then nearly got himself on the scoresheet midway through the second half.

🤪In the 72nd minute of the game, the 24-year-old worked his way into some space in the box and let rip with an effort that forced a diving save from Wes Foderingham.

🍨Goodman liked what he saw, saying on : “That was the Diaby we saw at the start of the season. Electric, quick feet.”

ꦺLater on in the game, the Frenchman set up Morgan Rogers for what would’ve been his debut goal in claret and blue.

꧒Diaby picked the 21-year-old out near the centre spot, but the Villa newcomer was leaning back and fired his effort over the bar.

⛦All in all, it was a decent effort from the Villans summer signing, who will hope his display in South Yorkshire will help him turn a corner form-wise.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is happy with Moussa Diaby

ꦚDiaby joined Villa to much fanfare from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. He hit the ground running, with six goal contributions from his first seven Premier League games.

ওHowever, he has registered just one goal from his last 13 Premier League games for Villa, and had been looking as though he’s been playing within himself of late.

𒅌Nevertheless, Diaby retains Emery’s confidence. Speaking ahead of the game, the Villans boss stressed that the attacking talent has been working hard.

☂“I am happy with him,” he told on Friday. “His commitment is high and his behaviour is fantastic.

🅷“His performances haven’t been consistent but I can understand because he is in the process of understanding everything.

🐎“He is adapting in the Premier League which is difficult. I don’t know if it’s more difficult than in Germany, but it is difficult.

🎐“We are always trying to send him the same message – we are building a team collectively.

ꦍ“You have to understand and practice a lot how we can combine with different players in our tactical idea and get stronger when we face each match.”
