Sky journalist shares what he’s heard about Conor Gallagher and Tottenham in the last 24 hours
Conor Gallagher to Tottenham has been one of the hottest rumours of the January transfer window.
The Chelsea midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to north London all throughout this month, but, as of yet, nothing has come to fruition on that front.
There has been some chat around a late move from Tottenham over the past few days, but according to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, speaking on , this deal isn’t likely.
Indeed, according to Thomas, Chelsea have actually increased Gallagher’s pricetag – potentially asking for over £60m for the player now, hoping to price him out of a move.

Gallagher priced out
Thomas spoke about the midfielder.
“If the Nusa deal doesn’t happen then I would be surprised if Spurs did anything. The thing with Gallagher for example, Chelsea want a huge amount of money for him. We’ve said £40m, but it’s even more than that, people have said to me it’s 50 or 60m, but it might even be more than that based on conversations I’ve had over the past 24 hours, they’re really trying to price him out of leaving at the moment,” Thomas said.
Not worth it
As good a player Gallagher is, we can’t say that £60m represents great value for Gallagher at this point.
This is a huge amount of money for a player with just 18 months left on his deal, and while he would be fantastic for Tottenham, we can’t justify paying that much for Gallagher considering his contract situation.
We’re desperate for a bit of action in this January transfer window after an incredibly slow start, but when asking prices are getting this ridiculous, we can absolutely understand why there’s been a lack of movement during this transfer window across Europe.
We can’t see Gallagher to Tottenham happening at this point.
