Sir Alex Ferguson says Liverpool have a simply ‘unbelievable’ player in their ranks
Liverpool star Andrew Robertson has been described as an “unbelievable” player by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Reds ace has been nothing short of sensational since making the move to Anfield from Hull City four years ago for a reported £8million.
Robertson’s pace, energy, crossing ability, workrate and professionalism have seen him develop into one of the best left-backs in the world.
The 26-year-old has made 171 competitive appearances for Liverpool, registering five goals and 35 assists.
Robertson’s efforts have helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup over the past few years.
And at international level, the Scotland captain has helped his country qualify for Euro 2020, which takes place this summer.
Steve Clarke’s charges have been drawn in a tough group which also includes the likes of World Cup finalists Croatia, the Czech Republic and England.
However, Ferguson believes that with players like Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay, Scotland can shine.
“I look at the midfield players and I think they are as good as anyone, players playing in England,” the former Manchester United boss is quoted by as saying.
“(Kieran) Tierney has been fantastic at Arsenal, absolutely fantastic, Robertson the last two years at Liverpool has been unbelievable.
“(Scott) McTominay is now emerging as one of Man United’s big players… (John) McGinn coming through at Aston Villa has been fantastic, (Kenny) McLean at Norwich has had a great season.
“So I’m optimistic. The important thing about the home games is, I know it’s only 12,000 people, but 12,000 at Hampden when they get going is like 50,000 at Wembley. We can create the atmosphere all right.”

What else can be said about Robertson that hasn’t been said already? He has been outstanding for Liverpool over the past few years, and for such a bargain price too.
Admittedly this season hasn’t been easy for Liverpool or indeed for Robertson, who suffered a downturn in form earlier in the campaign.
However, the quality is there and he’ll surely finish the season on a high before shining for Scotland in the summer.
