Simon Jordan states the biggest challenge Ruben Amorim is about to face at Manchester United

Manchester United’s search for a new manager may be over very quickly.

Erik Ten Hag was only sacked a few days ago, and United already seem to have his replacement lined up.

Indeed, Ruben Amorim looks set to become the new United gaffer in the coming days, and the Portuguese boss needs to be ready for a huge uphill challenge at Old Trafford.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen talented manager after talented manager fail at Manchester United, and Amorim needs to do something special to buck that trend.

Speaking on the Up Front Podcast, Simon Jordan has been discussing the impending arrival of Amorim at United, and he’s suggested that the incoming gaffer has a big challenge on his hands due to his lack of experience.

The biggest challenge Ruben Amorim faces at Manchester United

Jordan shared his verdict on Amorim.

The pundit claimed that Amorim’s biggest challenge is the fact he’s inexperienced at the top level, claiming that you can’t buy or borrow experience at the top level.

“It’s interesting. And the one thing I’d like to suggest that there’s biggest challenges is not his playing squad.

“It’s like the old expression of experience. You can’t buy it, you can’t borrow it, you can’t pretend to have it. You can’t replicate penalty shootouts on the training ground, and you cannot prepare to be the Man United manager.

“Managing Sporting and getting 27 points out of nine games, scoring 30 goals and conceding two, and being effective in European competition against some of the lesser opposition in Europe is not the same as this goldfish bowl he’s walking into now. And this is an enormous job.”

Amorim’s experience may not matter

Jordan makes a solid point here about the fact Amorim isn’t experienced at the top-level, but the reality is that in 2024, that may not matter too much.

Look at the landscape of the Premier League right now. Pep Guardiola is of course a huge name, but the rest of the big six clubs have rather inexperienced managers.

Indeed, five of the so-called big six, are now set to be managed by gaffers who’d never done it at the top level previously.

The reality is that the managerial landscape is changing, and Amorim is just as qualified as anyone else.

There’s a reason Liverpool looked at Amorim in the summer, this is a very talented young coach who could go a long way in the game.

There’s plenty of reason for Manchester United fans to be excited about this appointment.
