‘Silk and steel’: Leeds fans loved what Sam Greenwood did for the under-23s today
Leeds United don’t play until tomorrow but their under-23s were in action today, as they drew 2-2 with West Ham at Thorp Arch.
The Whites had to come from behind to salvage something from the game, despite going ahead through Max Dean in the 29th minute. Two goals after half-time for the Hammers put them 2-1 to the good.
However, impressive young striker Sam Greenwood showed nerves of steel to calmly smash a penalty into the top corner to level the game at 2-2.
But while the penalty was impressively dispatched by the teenager, Leeds fans also loved what they saw just after the goal.
The West Ham goalkeeper tried to keep hold of the ball – something we see all the time in the Premier League – only for Greenwood and his teammates to try and wrestle the ball back for a quick restart.
It showed a fight and determination within the camp and it was something some Leeds fans picked up on on Twitter after seeing the clip.
Here, then, is how some Leeds fans reacted to Sam Greenwood’s show of aggression after netting his penalty against West Ham today.
Excellent attitude these lads have. Silk and steel.

Regarding the afters although we see it all the time it is the team that concedes that has the possession.
