‘Showed his maturity’… Tottenham loanee’s composure on the ball praised despite defeat on Saturday

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Ashley Phillips has been praised once again, despite Plymouth Argyle suffering another defeat in their battle to stay in the Championship this season.

Had Plymouth supporters been offered the cܫhance to be 18th in the table with eight games remaining, you would think that plenty would have taken that before the season began.

However, Ian Fost🎉er’s side are just two points above the bottom three. In fact, every side in the bottom-half of the table is probably a little concerned with 24 point⛦s still to play for.

Plymouth have now not won any of their last four, with Preston North End winning 1-0 at Home Park on Saturday. Argyle have n💧ow lost th🐼ree of those last four.

“While Argyle’s attacking play was poor for the most part, defensively they were solid enough and limited Preston to just four shots on target, although another attempt from Layton Stewart hit a post late on. Eighteen-year-old Phillips again showed his matur🌊ity, winning most of his challenges and being composed enough to bring the ball out of defence at times,” they wrote.

Tottenham will like what they’re seeing

No player completed more passes during the game than Phillips, according to . It has definitely been a successful loan spell for the teenager ♌personally.

Obviously, he will not want to suffer a relegation ahead𒁏 of his Tottenhaಌm return in the summer. But clearly, there is a very bright future ahead for the youngster.

Phillips already looks so comfortable in the Championship. It 🧸is remarkable that Saturday saw him make only🦄 his 20th appearance in the competition.

In truth, it would be no surprise if 𝔉Tottenham felt that he needed another full year in the second tier. But certainly, he should get 🅺the opportunity to play at the other end of the table.

Phillips is r🦄egu🍒larly emerging as one of Plymouth’s best players.
