‘Shouldn’t have to stand for this’: Some Newcastle fans discuss rumour about St James’ Park

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after the revealed that the club have opted against taking part in safe standing trials.
What’s the story?
Well, this is pretty disappointing news.
It may not mean much to some, but others love standing at football games and feel it adds a huge amount to the atmosphere.
The likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham have already signed up to take part, but Newcastle won’t be – for now at least.
The add that Newcastle are doing their own research, and plan to monitor the outcome of the trials before making a decision.
Safe standing at Newcastle would be great

Newcastle have one of the biggest stadiums in the Premier League, and also one of the most passionate fanbases around – if not the most.
With that in mind, it would be great to have a large portion of supporters involved in safe standing, which tends to improve the atmosphere.
However, you can understand why Mike Ashley doesn’t want it to come in.

As one fan below stated, the congregating of a vocal bunch of fans would surely see anti-Ashley chanting take place at a greater volume.
Additionally, it’ll cost money to install, and we know Ashley doesn’t often invest much cash in the Magpies.
For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about the safe standing trials…
Not really a surprise, given that it would require spending some money on the stadium.

The 20 year-old me would love safe standing, the 43 year-old me not interested. To be honest, getting a nice sit down is the best bit about going to matches at the moment.
Shock.

Why does this suprise anyone, be enough room to lie down and watch the game soon. And of course if all the young vociferous lads and lasses all apply to be in the same place there’s a threat that the might sing of discontentment and they don’t want that they want them split up.

We shouldn’t have to stand for this any longer……oh wait!

This was predicted way before the announcement, not going to spend money on the ground.
