Should Celtic allow Mikey Johnston to leave on loan?

Mikey Johnston is considered by both Celtic and Scotland to be one of the best young talents around.

There are high hopes for the talented teenager, who is already on the fringes of the first-team and getting some action.

With 13 first-team appearances already under his belt, Johnston is more experienced than many other players of his age.

But could he get even better if he continues his development away on loan?

There are two examples for Celtic to look at when deciding whether to loan Johnston out or not.

Perhaps they should keep him and let him force his way into the side, like Keiran Tierney and James Forrest did.

Or alternatively, he could gain valuable experience out on loan, like Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie did.

This season, Brendan Rodgers has decided to use Johnston on a few occasions.

The lively young winger has played in three league games, four European games and one cup match this season.

But there are plenty of other players available in his position. Would the 19-year-old be better off spending time out on loan?

There would be many Scottish Premiership clubs eager to sign Johnston on a temporary basis.

If Celtic allowed the Scotland under-21 international to leave on loan, it could help him break into the team on a permanent basis next season.
