‘Shocking’… John Harston is absolutely furious at what he’s witnessed from some of Celtic’s players recently

Celtic’s defeat to Kilmarnock has not only upset the supporters this week, it has apparently left John Hartson absolutely fuming.

The former Celtic hero was discussing the defeat and said that the second half was completely unacceptable and has blasted some of the players for their ‘shocking’ attitude.

Hartson said [], “It’s one of those where you can’t sugarcoat the second half.”

“As I said, it was shocking. At this moment in time, I really think that there are a few players at Celtic who are coasting. Really coasting along.

“You can’t afford the coast at this stage of the season. In the last few weeks at St Johnstone, it took a real stern word from Brendan Rodgers when they were 1-0 down at halftime. I think the draw at home to Motherwell, yes, in between they had a good result against Hibs.

“And they haven’t won anything yet, Celtic. They’re out of the League Cup, they’re out of Europe and there’s the league and the Scottish Cup still to play for.

“But at this particular time, I just feel one or two players maybe think they’re better than what they are and then they need to start performing and put the foot on the gas.”

Which Celtic players are ‘coasting’ as Brendan Rodgers tries to find form?

Looking through the team you would hate to think that any of the players were being complacent so let’s take a closer look.

Could Greg Taylor be too comfortable in his role? With no real competition for his place, the Scotland defender knows he will be picked every week. And that’s not his fault. That’s Celtic’s.

I made the case on TBR Celtic just this week that Taylor (along with two others) needs to be dropped immediately from the side. Maybe not tonight but at the weekend when Hearts come calling.

Is Alistair Johnston another one who has become complacent as well? Anthony Ralston is there as cover but let’s be honest, he’s not going to challenge the Canadian for a starting spot.

Then there are the wingers. Mikey Johnston and Hyunjun Yang. I don’t think they are coasting. I just believe that they are simply not good enough.

Neither have done anything of note to convince me that they have the necessary quality to be a regular in this Celtic side.

When Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada are fully fit, they will thrown straight into the team. If that happens then that tells you a lot about those two players’ futures at Celtic.

Let’s hope the Kilmarnock defeat will shock a few players into life because if Celtic want to beat Feyenoord tonight, they can’t afford to have one player off it let alone a few.
