Sherwood says he’d love Tottenham to sign Raphinha from Leeds

Tim Sherwood that he would love to see Raphinha join Tottenham Hotspur, insisting that the Leeds United star could play for any team in the Premier League.

Raphinha will currently be focused on trying to keep Leeds in the top-flight. He certainly made an impact at the weekend, setting up the 94th minute winner in the dramatic victory over Norwich.

However, there is bound to be plenty of talk in the summer about his future. He is one player Leeds are likely to attract bids for whether they stay up or not.

West Ham reportedly offered £50 million in January. Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Barcelona are in contact with his agent Deco regarding a possible move.

Certainly, a number of sides are likely to try their luck. And Sherwood has suggested that he would love to see Tottenham in the mix for Raphinha in the coming months.

“Very difficult to keep him. I’m not exaggerating to say he could play anywhere in the Premier League. There is not a team he wouldn’t fit. It depends how regularly he wants to play, and Leeds’ ambition,” .

“He is only going to be a lot of money to buy, but it is worth it. He has shown that he can play in the Premier League, a low-risk signing. I’d like to have him at Tottenham, I think he’d be a great player at Tottenham.”

Price may be a problem for Tottenham as Sherwood recommends Raphinha

If Leeds stay up, Raphinha is going to cost a considerable amount for any admirer. The Whites would surely love nothing more than to get at least one more year out of the Brazil international.

Obviously, there looks to be no chance of Raphinha playing in the Championship next year. And his asking price would drop considerably if Leeds were relegated.

The price would surely be a problem for a club like Tottenham if Leeds stay up. Spurs have been prepared to part with big sums. However, there are surely other areas of the squad that require more urgent attention.

Cristian Romero is set to sign permanently. And Dejan Kulusevski is another currently on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Their budget will surely be used on the likes of a new centre-back, central midfielder and striker.

Raphinha would undoubtedly be an exciting signing for Tottenham. And there will certainly be a potential bargain to be had if Leeds go down. But even then, a bidding war could easily break out.
