This season could have been very different for Jordan Rhodes. In the summer, his move to top-flight club Norwich City fell through. He did not manage to leave Sheffield Wednesday before the Premier League and Championship deadline.
Up until last night, Rhodes had managed two substitute cameos in five Championship games. His brief spells on the pitch have amounted to just over half an hour of play. But last night, he was given a chance.
Rhodes doesn’t join in the celebrations

Rhodes was selected in the starting line-up for Sheffield Wednesday’s short trip to Rotherham United. The ex-Huddersfield, Blackburn and Middlesbrough striker played the full 90 minutes in the EFL Cup.
But he failed to take his chance and score a goal for the Owls. And there was one moment that enraged the Sheffield Wednesday supporters. Atdhe Nuhiu bundled in a dramatic 96th-minute winner for Lee Bullen’s men. But Rhodes did not celebrate with the team.
There is a clip of the 29-year-old turning away after Nuhiu puts the ball in the net. Here are some fan reactions to that moment and his performance.
Can we all agree now that Jordan Rhodes is a spent force and put the ‘if he he gets chances he’ll score’ to bed?

Clear to see why he never plays in league

A very odd reaction from him. Mind you he probably wishes it could have been him and then people might get off his bloody back. Some fans need reminding that we are ‘supporters’ !!!!

Team game rich and lets be right has he lived up to that 6-8 million price tag we’ve paid for him he’s a disgrace
— Luke Askham (@Luke_Askham)
he’s got face on because he will be on a decent goal bonus to top up his over inflated salary… send him on loan somewhere and let’s not remember him for the chances he never took… the goal machine is empty

I’ve wanted Rhodes to come good with us, but seeing his reaction when we scored is very disappointing. Play as a team, celebrate as a team! His hearts not with us. Fox gets stick every week, but to be fair to him, he’s improved a lot and he’s straight in there with the boys ??
